  • Roosevelt offers a wide variety of academic competitions and other clubs and organizations that provide lots of opportunities for students to get involved, to learn new or improve existing skills, and to meet new people and make new friends!

    Academic Decathlon (AcDec): The Academic Decathlon is the only annual high school academic competition organized by the non-profit United States Academic Decathlon Association (USAD). The competition consists of seven multiple choice tests, two performance events, and an essay. (Mr. Lopez)


  • Destination Imagination (DI): [W]hen an educational experience is hands-on, collaborative and fun, students are empowered to take their learning to the next level and are excited to do so. DI provides unique educational experiences across seven project-based Challenge types–Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Service Learning, and Early Learning.

  • eSports: Gamers unite! This DISD-sponsored club competes in four games: Smash Bros., League of Legends, Fornite, and Rocket League! (Sgt. Paige)


  • Finance and Investing Club: The Wharton Global High School Investment Competition is an online investment simulation. Students work in teams of 4-7, guided by a teacher. Together, they learn about teamwork, communication, risk, diversification, company and industry analysis, and other important aspects of investing. (Mr. Haqq)


  • Mock Trial: Thousands of high school students from across Texas participate in this highly motivating, energetic, and challenging academic competition! The program provides a great way for students to gain an “insider’s view” of our judicial system, gain confidence speaking in front of others and have a lot of fun at the same time. (Ms. Lewis)

  • Model United Nations:Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations and other international organizations. As a delegate representing a particular country, you will cooperate with other delegates in your committee to write resolutions addressing global issues. It's a great activity to learn about the biggest problems facing our world and to practice research, communication, and collaboration. (Mr. D. Scott)

    TMSCA: is an organization formed by Texas math and science teachers to promote excellence in math and science through competition. It was formed in 1981 to promote uniformity in the practice meets held to prepare students for University Interscholastic League competition in the spring. Through its efforts grade-level competition is now the norm at practice meets. (Mr. Blount)

         **Roosevelt High School Jay “5” Band : The Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation is one of Dallas’ best all-around performance bands for the past     20 years and includes the Jay “5'” Marching Band, Concert Band,, Jazz Band.
